GAMBIT 2016

We are pleased to invite you to the 11th International Road Safety Seminar GAMBIT to be held on 17-18 November 2016 at the Gdansk University of Technology. To mark this year’s twentieth anniversary of GAMBIT we have prepared a special edition of the Seminar together with the Motor Transport Institute and Road and Bridge Research Institute.

This year’s special formula of the GAMBIT Seminar ties in with “Development of Road Innovations”, a research programme of the National Centre for Research and Development and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. One of its main goals is to improve Poland’s road safety. As programme partners we suggested for this year’s GAMBIT to focus on road innovation. Our proposed programme centres around two main problem areas: safe road infrastructure and road safety management. The conclusions and recommendations from the GAMBIT 2016 Seminar will serve as contribution to the projects, part of the “Development of Road Innovations” programme.

We are delighted to inform you that this year’s GAMBIT Seminar has received the honorary patronage of the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction, Director of the National Centre for Research and Development, Director of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, President of the European Road Federation and the Rector of the Gdansk University of Technology.

As part of supporting young researchers, we are planning a poster session for Ph.D. students and young Ph.D. holders to offer them an opportunity to showcase their projects and research work in one of three thematic areas: road user behaviour, safe road infrastructure and road safety management.

We will also be publishing all articles accepted by the Seminar’s Scientific Committee in Proceedings of GAMBIT which we will send for indexing in the Web of Science database. As usually, Polish versions of the articles will be published in recognised professional journals.
